OPEN ACCESS NETWORK
In 2017, with grant funding from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs and cash and in-kind contributions from project partners, NCB completed a 12-mile fiber optic network, including a 288-strand trunk running between east and west Steamboat Springs, with laterals connecting community anchor institution facilities throughout the community. In 2018, NCB acquired additional fiber and conduit in downtown Steamboat Springs, adding to the capacity of its open access network. In 2021, NCB entered into an indefeasible right of use agreement with Yampa Valley Electric Association, allowing Luminate Broadband, a wholly owned subsidiary of YVEA, to use the bulk of NCB's fiber assets to expand community broadband service.
